Have a black 2011 TRD Sport 2wd extended cab extended bed.
I've always wanted a 4x4 access cab or extended cab white or black gen 1 tacoma. It's just a fantasy of mine, wondering if anyone is interested?

If your not just pulling all our legs with that title, Im pretty sure you could sell your truck and buy one hell of a first gen. You could probably buy 2 1st gens at that.

Possibly, I'd have to run the numbers, but I'm upside down on the truck. I have a 6 year note and have paid off 2 years. So i have somewhere around $11,000 invested. If I sold the truck outright, I'd loose some money.

I'd like to sell it to someone, they would pay me what i have left, maybe $20,000-23,000 and be willing to trade a gen 1 4x4 for next to nothing? I don't really know, kind of depends on what condition the gen 1 is in.

My truck is pretty much bone stock and hasn't gone off the pavement, is washed and waxed weekly and is babied. It has 24,000 miles on it and I don't think it even has a door ding, never been wrecked, has all the service records and has another 40,000+ miles in warranty.

Maybe my thinking is off, but this is the kind of deal I'm looking for?

If someone traded you a first gen 4x4 worth $5,000 (which is an incredibly low figure) they would essentially be paying $25,000 for a 2011 double cab prerunner with 45,000 miles.

My advice would be to return the vehicle to stock, sell all the aftermarket items for cash, sell the stock truck privately, pay off your note and buy an older vehicle with the remaining cash

    OR

If you couldn't pay the note off, TRADE the STOCK truck in for a well maintained older vehicle and roll the negative equity (sucky i know) into that note and use that vehicle until the wheels fall off.

There is no worse investment than a vehicle and unfortunately you will be finding out the hard way.

I'd stay away from the OR...
you'd be even more in the hole on an older truck. Keep your truck now and drive it until it dies or you catch up to its worth. Tacomas hold their value so if you give it a bit of time you'll eventually catch up.

Is your fantasy worth fulfilling at the expense of negative equity and loss of money?... Only you can say

I would also stay away from the latter but if he needs to lower his payment in a hurry i believe the latter is the best option.
