    BC rates seem cheaper than the the rest of Canadas. I read an article today saying that the liberal gov there ran BC hydro in 145 Billion dollars worth of debt.

    Private power producers , mostly small hydroelectric generators called " run of river " projects because they don't build a dam

    Campbell signed it into law that BC Hydro MUST buy power from them at a predetermined rate that happens to be less than BC Hydro can sell it for , furthermore they have to buy all the power produced by these projects for I believe 10 years , which means in fall / spring when we have a surplus of power because of high rivers they still have to buy power from them

    They are losing money hand over fist and the rate payers eventually are gonna have to foot the bill
