I managed a retail liquor store at night for almost a decade. You are simply 100% wrong. During the holidays we would have to open up a cash only line and it was always the quickest line. People paying with plastic is literally ruining our economy.

So if your in the woods and get stuck or break down and someone comes to tow you out or save you what do you tip them? No ATM's in the woods. Just carry some dam cash like humans have been doing for most of history. Plastic is for emergencies not day to day IMO.

havent you seen the commercial where everyone's paying with a card and everything is in harmony....lines moving smoothly? then there's the dude with the cash and everyone just bumps to each other all hell breaks loose?

Yep, just another marketing scheme to further America's dependence on them. Of course they want you to use a CC...thats how they profit. They selectively don't tell you that paying with a card costs the vendor 1-5% of the products cost just to use it, thus driving up the price for the people who still use cash.

Sadly gas stations are the only ones smart enough to raise pricing to offset the % the CC companies take for the plastic pushing masses. The rest of the retail economy just raises prices for everything and everyone looses. I love seeing gas prices that are $0.05 higher if someone uses a CC.

So in closing pay cash. Living off plastic is just plain stupid IMO.

Oh and back on topic..........I has a ton of Canadian change and bills. Now that the exchange rate is good I should cash it in. Need to find a place to do so. Ill keep a couple of each coin since they will now be history so I can show my grand kids 20 years from know what America should of done decades ago.

The "cash only" line's speed would be dependent upon the amount in $$ which people are buying. In a liquor store the average total is let's say $20-50? If it's around $20 you can pay with cash, but the higher the bill the harder this becomes.

Also, if you're making many stops throughout your day and you have to make lots of purchases upwards of $50+ (during the holiday season this quite easy) well all of those bills add up and to carry around all the cash you'd need to make all those purchases would be unreasonable and can be unsafe.

"Plastic" is the ideal thing for day to day for bills above $15-20, cash is more of an emergency payment method for when electronic payment methods are out of order this way you are stil able to be able to buy items (this happens at gas stations and various other places quite often)

That Canadian money you have is worth more than the American cash in your wallet right now .

I know the exchange rate is in Canada's favor thus why I want to exchange it. I still have more cash on hand then the Canadian money I have at home in me safe.

So whats the deal now? Are pennies going to stop being accepted throughout canada or just stop being produced?
