The US has half and dollar coins and $2 bills too but you hardly see them. Last time I tried to pay with a dollar coin the convenience store clerk thought I was trying to pull something on her and called the manager.

Several years ago when the Canadian dollar was less value than the US dollar and pop was still a quarter some people used to buy Canadian 25 cents coins to use in US vending machines.

I just realized something. Every time I was in Vancouver I just bought things with US money and nobody said anything to me. I never had any trouble getting rid of my Canadian change in Portland either.

No one pays attention to whether or not coins are US or CDN currency. It's when you get into bills that people notice/care.

"In God We Trust" not only appears on US currency, it is the official motto of the US, which concerns me as if you study any mythology (including Judaeo-Christian mythology) you will soon realize that gods are the last things that you want to trust.

    +1
    No...

Because if they are real, and if they hold true to mythology, they are extremely moody beings that are just as likely to smash you like a bug as they are to bestow prosperity upon you.

We can put as much trust in gods as a stray cat can put in a young boy.

All of our cats are former strays, some are likely Canadian as we get lots of custom cutting crews through here in the summer. Two of our cats have been "naturalized," the other two are still undocumented.

Speaking of Canadian coins, one of my favorite toys as a kid was a Canadian nickel because you could pick it up with a magnet.
