Honesty is best policy

Probably gonna get flamed for putting this in 2nd gen, but everybody and their mom seems to be here so why not

2 months ago, I purchased a set of brand new 33" BFG AT's from America's Tire, under lifetime warranty. I've exclusively bought new tires from these guys ever since I got my first car. Last month, the two BFG's on the front wore down to homemade drag slicks, so I needed a new set for the front. I got a great deal from another local member here for 4 BFG's but they were 31's (265/75/16). After mounting them and driving/wheeling with them for a month, I like them better than the 33's. I can do the same wheeling with no problem, but get close to 300 miles to a tank now.

On Saturday, while out wheeling, something sliced my front driver's side tire and I had to put the donut spare on. After looking everywhere for a used tire, I decided to see if the hole could be patched. Yesterday, I took it back to America's Tire, and they said they couldn't fix it, but it's covered under warranty. I quickly shot down that idea, explaining that these were not the same tires I bought from them, therefore they were not under warranty. I could have easily lied and said yeah I bought the warranty and he would have replaced it for free, but I didn't. The salesman admired my honesty so much, today he offered me a brand new BFG AT in the same size for 50% off the retail price. I took the deal, and I'm heading down there in 10 minutes to mount it.

I just wanted to say that even in a world like this, being honest can truly pay off.

/stupid thread to make myself feel better.

Good for you for doing the right thing. The title is "Honesty is best policy" so I can't say I would have done the same but again nice job

/salute

My girlfriend went to the store yesterday and upon returning to the parking lot discovered a man blocking hers and another car from leaving. Turns out this guy saw another lady scrape her fender along my GF's bumper and try to leave. He blocked her and called the cops and waited. He did not have to risk his property or his time to make sure she paid for her mistake. But he did anyway. He just wanted to see the right thing done. I wish I had been there to shake his hand.

It's the way I try to live my life every day, and It's what I plan to hand down to children of my own some day. So it's nice to hear I'm not the only one. You sure don't win every time standing up for what's right. But you sure do sleep well afterwards

Good on you for the honesty. I wonder if the guy there will "claim" your old tire, and pocket the cash.

But, you wore out the new 33's in one month? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Good job sir.

The other day there was a great sale on dog food so I grabbed 4 bags. Lady only rang up 3 and I told her about it, she seemed to be in a hurry noticing all the customers waiting. My sister's bf made the comment after walking out that I shouldn't of said anything to get a free bag. I just wouldn't of felt right by not saying anything.

Other times honesty has gotten me in trouble...
