Friend driving across Canada

Buddy of mine is moving back to AK from OKC. He will be driving across Canada. Projected route takes him across the border in Montana, up through Edmonton then AB-43 to BC-49 to BC-97 to YT-1 on into Alaska.

How are gas stations along this route? Anyone traveled these routes before? Anything major he should watch out for or avoid?

Bears..

 

Watch for a lot of wildlife at dawn and dusk, especially north of Edmonton. A lot of moose up there, and black bears are quite common as well.

For long trips into unknown areas, I always carry a jerrycan or two of gas. Just in case.
