honestly, i have no idea what either of those are. I've only ever attendended two hockey games, both were Columbus Chill. I've always called them minor league, like baseball. I must say though...both were awesome games. first game there was blood on the ice within two minutes of starting. :D lots of fighting in both games.

i just googled columbus chill and it was an echl (east coast hockey league) team. there is the nhl, ahl, echl and then lots of other semi pro leagues in the states. now to answer your question there is quite a few ahl teams in canada but there is only one echl team in canada.

I was just asked why British Columbia is called that, and I couldn't answer them. (I'm in Fresno, CA for work)....What's the answer please? They were like "British?" "Columbia"? I think they were thinking of the countries....and trying to make a connection there.

    Etymology
The province's name was chosen by Queen Victoria when the Colony of British Columbia, i.e. "the Mainland", became a British colony in 1858.[4] It refers to the Columbia District, the British name for the territory drained by the Columbia River, which has its origins and upper reaches in southeastern British Columbia, which was the namesake of the pre-Oregon Treaty Columbia Department of the Hudson's Bay Company. Queen Victoria chose British Columbia to distinguish what was the British sector of the Columbia District from that of the United States ("American Columbia" or "Southern Columbia"), which became the Oregon Territory in 1848 as a result of the treaty.

Why is the west better? Not a flame or a troll just wondering.

My wife and I did a 3 week tour of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Cape Breton Island, and Prince Edward Island and thought the land was spectacular and the residents as nice as could be.

Yes I know Cape Breton Island is not a Providence.

Everybody loves their homeland , no ? That's some of it , also the west is less densely populated than Central Canada , and in BC we live in paradise .

    And it's " Province " not " Providence "

Damn Americans just don't know squat. ;)

I hear that. We did a tour back in 1992 that took us up into the Yukon Territory. I had some free time and figured out that there was 1 person for every 721 SQ Miles. Now that is not populated. At that time 1/2 of the population lived in Whitehorse.

I have also traveled into British Columbia and Alberta and was truly amazed at the scenery and at the upkeep of the farms in Alberta. It seemed like all the farm structures were in a very well kept shape. This was back in 1989. Myself and a friend did a western road trip with the Capitals. We rented a car and watched them play in Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton. It was a breath taking trip.

I would like to take the train trip across Canada.

We will be in Canada this summer. We have a booked a Disney Family Cruise which starts in Vancouver. We plan on getting in a day early and do some sight seeing in Vancouver. I would love to go to Vancouver Island but there will not be enough time.

Here in America most of our farms are run down and not in a good state of repair. I believe it is due to the children not staying home and taking up farming as a livleyhood. Or it could be Agribusiness having laws made that make it impossible for a farmer to make a decent living.
