    Hi,

I`m a new member interested to change car for a Tacoma since I`m doing few trackdays a year with my R6 and I need more room to load all the stuff needed and I bought my first house that need some work. However, I shopped around and the difference between a new truck and a relatively new one is minimal ($2000).

So my question is, what was the cost of bringing a truck from the US?

For example the V6 Double cab manual truck in US is around $30,000US so $31,000CAN and the same truck is worth $35,000CAN in Canada. BTW I`m in Ontario between Kingston and Toronto (Belleville).

Where did you buy it? To a dealer? Did you had to `ship`` it or you were able to drive it from the dealer ship?

    Thanks

    -Dave

i was going to do that but i went and talked to my local dealer and they gave me a very good price. it just seemed like to much of a hassle to bring up a truck anyway.

I bought my Tacoma new in the US. It was a piece of cake really. I sent a cashiers cheque by FedEx, booked a flight. The dealership where I purchased it picked me up at the Airport in "My" truck!! We did about an hour worth of paper work and I was on my way. I ended up getting my Taco for about $3300 off MSRP. It worked out to about $7K less than a local purchase. Locally, my dealership is stuck on "Access Toyota" pricing which is basically "Buy it for the window sticker price, or go somewhere else".

Anyways, the drive home was fun too!!

After getting all of my receipts together for Flight, gas, hotels, GST (on truck at the boarder), AC tax, and 108 cans of "Coors" (not coors light), I was still a few hundred bucks under the "sticker price" of the US Tacoma.

The trick is finding a Dealership in the USA that will sell to Canadians. Toyota USA doesn't allow their Dealerships to sell to any Canadians.

I am currently in the market for my 4th US Taco!!

I've been thinking of doing this as well. I'd be willing to put up with a lot of hassle to save 7 grand.

CK4500, Where did you purchase your truck from?

Out of respect for them doing me a huge favour by selling to me, I will not post anything publicly. They can get into huge shit from Toyota for breaking the rules.

    PM me for details.

Yeah, there is a 'way' around it. I bought my new 09 Tacoma from the US also. Very easy and I had it shipped to the border near my house. :D I love my truck.
