What you need is a bolt down basket/cradle that the side bars go up about 1/4 of the tire and then just strap the tire down over the tread. Similar to the Baja trucks just a separate bolt down item instead of integrated in the tube bed.
    Couple examples I could find:

A bumper here, some tires there..... you know, stuff.
 well thats what happens when you need small pieces i guess (spendy)
my dad works at valley. that's where i get my steel. they are much cheaper but you have to get mostly full sticks (20'). i can get half sticks on some stuff

-i have the the 3/16" 4" wide flat and you are welcome to it
    - 1/8 2x2 i can almost guarantee i can get you (2) 20' sticks for less than that

once i build mine, i'll build you one (for a small fee or course:D)

Mind exactly no, but they are personal. one represents chemo, the other the good times. One is a iv chemo bag (my representation) and the other a greaser/psychobilly type sugar skull.

A small handful of select mods.
Bingo. I need these. The EXPO's have ploy bushings and they are starting to drive me crazy. Did you find some that fit Bob?
    Someday for me...
I was thinking about this idea. Build one that is 3 sided and use the back corner of your bed as the 4th side. Or build a 4 sided one, triangulate the 4th side up to your spare hub (solid support). By using the hub, since it is the size of your wheel it helps to eliminate wobble because there is not room for the wheel to move around. Have the tray bolt to the bed and put a wide strap over the tire and a smaller one around tire back to your hub mount. Another option would be the 2 sides that touch the tread be tubular and threaded. Larger tire... open up the mount some. :) but you would also need your hub to be adjustable as well.
They are relying on you strapping that tire down real good. The ratchet on that bad boy allows you to apply a lot of force. Your tie down spots in the bed better be reinforced and solid or bending will occur.

Bastard. For me last day of work week before I start another one next week. :(
