Most likely not a cv if it does it going straight. Probably a ball joint or loose control arm/shock bolt.

 

Also the bushings that secure the racks on our trucks seem to go out a lot. I've had that cause a pretty decent pop as well.

Not to mention how the new ones are upsidedown and require pig urine. Our plan is to probably trade our Tundra in for one of the new ones for towing. Ours is too much of a pretty boy truck to be towing a crawler.

Does it just pop once going backward and then a sort of pop click going forward? If so I bet it is you brake pads. As they wear down they do move just a bit in the caliper and you get theses sorts of sounds.
