CBI plate rear bumper with swingaway, SPC Light Racing UCAs, ARB SS170HF Safari snorkel w/ Afrikaans centrifugal pre-cleaner, Tacoma antenna mod, TRD Supercharger w/ URD 7th inj. & URD pulleys, Anti-Dark engine bay lighting system. Having gone 250k, Aug 2016 was the time to replace the original clutch & get the driver's seat rebuilt/stuffed. Front & back Weathertech liners. Tundra front disc brake swap. Full length Rocky Mountain Rack with 40" lightbar & alternating strobe rear dust lights. I used a warm weekend in March 2022 to finally install my brand new, from old stock, 2000 4Runner driver's seat. $800 directly from the factory in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.
    Additional report:

For what it's worth, the district ranger & the other ranger I talked to at length last night said that the full 15 GB of 720p video files I gave to them documenting gate to gate road conditions on 30SEP2012 will be of the most assistance in getting 7Mile reopened.

They were both curious why it was not brought to their attention sooner that a complete video record with a timestamp existed in addition to the still photos they were sent. I'm a little curious myself, but that really doesn't matter. Whatever opens up 7Mile the quickest & most efficiently is all that matters. :)

I've been part of a few volunteer projects in my area with the USFS to build and maintain local hiking and biking trails. The projects are coordinated by the local ski company but the USFS are always very enthusiastic for having volunteers since they are so undermanned. If a group representing Tacomaworld were to offer assistance on a certain day, it may expedite trail openings, create a valuable partnership with the USFS, and serve as a fun and productive meet for members. I would definitely look into it myself but I'm several hours away and not a good member (EDIT: not a member at all) of that wheeling community. Just a suggestion though

These have a higher priority than the 4x4 trails. We here in the 4x4 world are a minority.

Our club does exactly that, volunteer our time as well as several other local clubs.

It comes down to grant money for the most part, as yes, the USFS is underfunded.

I realize my post comes across as a bit snarky with the USFS, but I have dealt with them for 18 years now and have my reasons.

For the record, I am on a first name basis with most of the LEO's and some of the rangers, I've even taken one of them to dinner a few times...;) So I am friendly to them.

Last weeks meeting with them they said that 7-mile was presumed to be fine and needed very little maintenance.

At the next days club meeting the USFS sent us their report that the "flood damage is substantial and the road is devastated needing drastic repairs"
    Or words to that effect.

So one day it's ok, next day we are quoted $127,000.00 in damages....

3 years ago we received a grant from OHV/ORV for $50,000.00 to repair a sinkhole on Kelly Flats, this still has not been done and the money goes away after this season. The USFS is the dropping the ball here, we gave them money to hire a contractor...no reason for it not to be done.

But regardless of all that, it's very important to keep trying and have our voices heard.

Like I said before, nothing will happen until the snow melts, the runoff subsides, and the ground firms up enough for equipment to travel without causing more damage. After last weeks mtn snow, it may be late June or July before anything happens now.

props for everything you do! I'm not at all familiar with the area but glad our group is well represented. I'd love to help out where I could if I were closer, but all I can do is say good luck!

    Hey everyone,

I was planning on going wheelin somewhere but have no idea where to go or what's not still covered in snow. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm a pretty stock O/R just sliders. I'm in Castle Pines so something nearby would be a plus.
