Hmmmm.... Was thinking about seeing the leaves on Sunday with the wife and dogs. This might work out well. 2 Eric's getting lost in the mountains.

    P.S. I get a new spare on Saturday. :-D

    Hmmmm..... neither do I. ;-)

Yeah. Just got to pay mount/balance and buy new road hazard for new tire. So it will cost me about $50.

    you'll like bill moore...

take the empire exit...there's a main road in the middle of empire that will shoot up to the right and take you to the trail...it'll get to dirt and switchback its way up to a large parking area...air down there

then you'll go past a fence on the way to the switchbacks in the beginning of the trail...usually some good wash outs in this section..have fun :D

remember uphill has right of way, but if you have a better option to pull off or back up, do the right thing...

there some cool old mining structures along the lower section, i think a lot of it is private property, so just look for signs and don't trespass..

you'll get into some tighter trees...there's an offshoot to the left that brings you up a gnarly chute...if you don't have sliders, i would pass on this, and keep an eye out for traffic as there is NO place to pass...

you'll have a couple spurs off the right that will bring you to the mill creek loops...things get tight in there when you get into the mill creek loop..

watch yourself going up the tighter tree sections, you'll see where some people hit some trees..you'll be fine, just pay attention...

the trail starts to open up more at a little hill climb where the second mill creek entrance comes in on your right...take the hill climb on your left..fun little wash out too if you want to flex out..

straight forward from there above tree line...some rocky sections and a loose rocky hill climb ahead of you in the next few miles..

after you top out and the trail continues down to your right, you'll have some great views...take some time to enjoy them...

trail will drop down on your way to the lake...trail will split and both will meet back up...when you get back into the trees, you will start to descend...watch out for uphill traffic as there isn't much room to pass...

bottom of the hill can get quite muddy...stay on trail!! you should be able to find lines that will get you through safely

then you'll bounce your way over to a large parking area where the lake is...some cool poser rocks down there for photos...

take some time at the lake to walk around a bit and soak it in...amazing area up there...

then return the way you came

excellent!!! thats good news because that was a blatant disregard to staying the trail.

Id like to get out and help STT as well, i was talking to Sam for quite a while at the toytec event. Good bunch of people at STT

they are going to have another volunteer day on the 27th

September 27 - Stay the Trail Slaughterhouse Gulch Volunteer Day (Bailey, CO)

Sounds good. We'll be leaving Mesa in the morning and try to fly over there!

Hope to be there between 10:30 and 11
