I got an email from Advanced Auto Parts promoting Mobil 1 Synthetic for $3.99 a quart (limit 12) online only. The discount does not show up until you add the item to the cart. You can choose in store pick up at check out and save on the shipping. Basically you can get six quarts for $24 or $0.50 more than the five quart jug at Wal-Mart. I also saw that the Purolator PureONE oil filters are $5.00.

I'm planning to stock up for the next few oil changes.

    Hope this helps out others.

The sale ends 12/1/2010 and again this appears to be online only, but you can select to pick up at your local Advanced Auto store.

This link should take you directly to the Mobil 1 products on sale.

Watch out for this add guys!!!! Over on the TDI blog I read it's not the oil you think it is. Some of the Auto Zones don't know what the add is specific about and others honor the add for whatever the oil advertised is. Just wanted to give you a heads up....

Question...can I use synthetic, then switch back to Dino if I had too?

Well, I have no problem spending the money, my issue is that if I spent full price then I am going to want to get about 10k on the oil before I change, my issue is that I only put about 6k a year so I change evry three r months...I dont go by mileage.

With Mobile 1 and a toyota oem filter, could I go the full year with out a oil change @ 6 k a year? does this stuff break down over time?

It's legit. I buy the gallons at wall world, but at 5.5 qt capacity I needed some singles. I picked up five qts.

You should be able to go by mileage unless your waiting 4-5 years. I say this because the germans spend about $600-$700 for an oil change in their cars so they are very frugal and operate to the very limit on oil changes....

BMW recommends oil changes every 15,000 miles on my wifes 325. It holds close to 7 quarts of oil (synthetic)
It's hard for me to go that long, I usually change it at 10,000. Got 115,000 miles on it, with no problems.

Picked up the oil earlier... Not sure what you meant about being careful which oil it is. I got two 6-pack boxes of full synthetic Mobil1 without question.

I walked in, went straight to the display and got what I wanted, then walked it to the counter with my printed online receipt. The guy didn't seem to know what was going on... Maybe I would have had to get different oil if he did? I dunno. If you look like you know what you're doing you can do just about anything.

I'm like you....I don't think I could wait 15k to change my oil...that would drive me nuts.....
