Original ipod Nano recalled in US

got the envelope... will be sending in my dead ipod next week

 

I got my envelope today. Holy crap there is no padding in that thing. If we are getting brand new 6th Gen I'll send mine in. Since a buddy gave me his old one

 

Why do we care what we are sending off our old, broken, ticking timebomb battery, iPods in?? As long as the new one, whether 6th gen or same gen, returns in excellent packaging.

 

some care, some dont... as for me, since my ipod is stuck in an infinite loop and i've tried everything possible that the apple forums shot out, anything that works is an upgrade or a good deal for me... whether it is refurbed, new, new model new older model... anything...LOL

co-worker's husband had a broken zune (screen cracked) and they gave it to me for free... i went online and purchased a screen for a few bucks

still have the zune.. its awesome

See; I'm calling shenanigans here. I guess our run-over envelopes do mean that it's going straight to the trash. Maybe the boxed ones are going to some less fortunate kid in another country??

 

maybe the ones getting special boxes are ones without faulty batteries and are going to be refurbed, to make sure they dont get damaged getting sent back, and the other ones like you said are going to trash pretty much.

why else would they send run over envelopes and padded boxes?

sucks mins still works, i think the battery life is a little short now but thats it...i also gently used it, i was never a hardcore user of it.

 

i'd ignore the recall if that was the case. but whos gonna have the last laugh if the battery explodes and your house is blown to smithereens

 

I bought one on eBay for $30. I'm going to turn it into a brand-new iPod nano!

 

just got an email (well just checked my email) and they sent out a 6th Gen nano. I originally got a nice padded box, so I guess fixing it is out of the question.

I did sign up for the replacement the first day they offered it, so maybe after a day or two they realized why bother spending all the $ if they were just gonna throw them out. I think the box I got may be one of the ones they use for regular repair service.

anyway, I have the new serial #, but I am unsure how to tell if its a new one or refurb. Either way I dont care! Thanks Apple!!

 

Apple has a website where you can check your warranty status. If its 3 months it's a refurb. If its 1 year it's a new nano. People on the Mac forum I go on have been getting new ones! Sweet deal!!

I got that same email tonight

 

Got my replacement Friday. It is the newest version Nano, the little 1 inch square unit. Letter stated due to low inventory they were upgrading my model. I guess it's hit or miss with what model you will get.Comes with 90 day warranty.

 

Is that the touch screen one?
