I've used Meguire's liquid wax for years, it's easy on and off and still beads until I wax it again a year later. I wax mine in November before the winter salt starts to kick up on it.

I used to always us Meguiar's premium wax, but then tried that Turtle Wax Ice... this cut both the time & effort by 75%. It doesn't last as long (I add a coat after each wash) but in my opinion it looks far better. It really brings out the paint colour, little goes a long way, also like how you can cover almost anything. It honestly made our beloved '86 silver Camry look like new again.

I am a HUGE fan of Turtle Wax Ice since you can apply it in the sun if you have to... Great stuff and keeps your ride looking great for a long time.

I've been using Klasse AIO, all-in-one, for years. It's an acrylic solution opposed to wax, silicones, and polymers. They advertise that it will last a year, and it's not B-S. Looks great, lasts, and most importantly it seems like it has some sort of resistance to scratches. I put the stuff on EVERYTHING - mountain bikes, frig, ect
Like everything that I'm going to spend my money on, I did a fair amount of research on it.

    Here's some sites:

    http://www.autopia.org/

Autopia is like the Tacoma World for Auto Detailing. Learn yourself a thing or two.

I do everything by hand, but want no need a porter 7424. I also have a friend that uses Poor Boy product and loves em, but he waxing alot more then me with my Klasse.:D

There are LOTS of great products out there :D

Those of you who love Meguiars stuff, granted its great for OTC but if you'd try some of the other stuff you can get online youd be really amazed at the outcome.

My fav right now is Optimum Poli-Seal... which is a sealant with a light cut to it to remove minor stuff, and then applying a wax on top of that to really bring out the glow, especially in metal flake paints.

If youre just waxing, theres no real need for a polisher. Those are necessary when youre wanting to do paint correction (swirl removing, scratches, etc).
Klasse products are just "fillers", they hide the minor swirls/scratches but when it wears off everything reappears, therefore its just fine applying it by hand.

    Anthony,

What do you mean by "fillers"? I read a lot of good stuff about Klasse, and mainly use it for paint protection. Do you think there's something better? I'm not looking for a cutting agent, I leave that to the pros.

    Thanks,
    Ed

Ive used and have a bunch of diff. waxes, after reading this i went to my garage to take inventory. I found a fairly full bottle of mcguires gold. washed the truck then used the mcguires, I was very impressed, looks great. went on and off easy and it was only around 60 degrees friday night.

I like using the Klasse All-in-one, and Blitz wax. the wax lasts about a month or two but the Klasse lasts for an entire year. Taco is always parked outside but when washed everything seems to just slide off. dirt, bird crap, tar, sap stains, it all comes off with this stuff.

Wish Id a seen this sooner, not sure why I didnt...

In the description itself, it says its "non-abrasive"... therefor its not removing any of your swirls, its just hiding them. So it woudlnt make a difference whether you applied it by hand for with a machine. "Fillers" as in it just fills in the swirl... once it wears off the swirls are back.

Actual abrasive polishes, need to be worked into the paint and provide defect removal... they need to be applied by machine since your hand cannot duplicat the effect.

I've used Nu Finish on both my wife's cars and my trucks for several years. Nu Finish was rated #1 by consumer reports several years ago. I tend to wax my truck about every 4 months and her car once a year as she points out on many occasions.

I just looked at the most recent Consumer Reports wax test online and Nu Finish has dropped to #7 in the rankings. The new top ranked are 'Black Magic wet shine liquid' and 'Turtle Wax Carnauba'. They are also rated as best buys. For my next wax I think I'm going to buy the Turtle Wax Carnauba. Good old standard.

They did rate Meguiar's Gold as #6 but it was only average in durability.

The bottom line is not what wax you use but that you wax frequently.

P.S. - I did read somewhere that Carbauba provides a deeper gloss than synthetics. I guess I'll find out.
