Bed clean up

I'm a brand new member of TW. Just bought a used 2007 Double Cab PreRunner. Love it...been wanting a truck again for so long. I just put leather seats in it, so now the interior looks and smells like a brand new truck. The exterior was in great shape with a couple of exceptions...rust on bumper behind lic plate, and the bed looks pretty rough. Previous owner must have actually used it as a work truck as it has a white looking film that won't come off with washing.

Wondering if anyone has ever spruced up their bed with a spray paint of any kind...maybe one designed for plastic (flat black)? I've always been a perfectionist about my cars and want to clean it up even though I know a bed is going to get it's wear and tear.

welcome from pearland. not sure about painting the bed, but a good bed mat might help your looks and provide some needed traction so things dont slip and slide.

I'm eventually going to get a tonneau cover but wanted to make it look better in the mean time. A bed mat is a good idea also.

What part of Pearland are you in?

you can armor all the whole thing, but it will be hella greasy and everything will slide around like crazy. just wash it out good with soap (car wash soap) and either use armor all or use some kind of plastic wax (turtle wax ice is good)

 

I used to be over there...Sunset Lakes. Moved to Silverlake about 4 years ago.

 

I armor-all'd the bed rail caps and it helped, washed the inside of the bed twice and whatever this white film is, it's not coming off. I could probably get in there with a hard bristle brush and do some serious scrubbing, but have not gone that far yet. I brushed it with good soap and a car-wash brush without success.

I use mothers back to black, it works great.

 

Mother's Back to Black is nice. 303 is good but I find it has to be buffed to tone the shine down. I say order up some Adam's Super VRT. Now were talkin'...

Don't use that link for 303 spray you can find it much cheaper then that. I just posted the link so you could see what the bottle looked like.

I treated every single piece of rubber and plastic on my truck with that stuff. Man I like it.

 

I know people who used to use peanut oil/peanut butter. Just let it sit on the black rubber/plastics and the natural oils from the peanuts soak in and get that black look. Iono how well it will work for the bed, but on early 90's bumpers it was magic.

 

dude i have sooo much white crap all over the bed of my truck...i have tried EVERYTHING nothing makes it come off...for me its from salt water from my boards and wetsuits and stuff
