Washing and Drying Help

Washed my truck for the first time yesterday (bought it last week).

I really have no choice but to wash it in the sun. Problem is it many parts dry before I finish washing (and have a chance to dry it) so it spots real bad.

If I try to wash/dry in sections, I end up getting already washed/dried parts we again and having to dry them again.

How do people wash and dry to avoid this? Is my only solution to find some shade to wash in?

 

Spray truck down to begin, then wash one section at a time (ex. Do front and rear doors on one side). As soon as you've done that, rinse it and spray it every so often to keep it wet as you do the rest of the truck if that makes sense. That way it doesn't dry and you can dry it with a towel or something and prevent the spots.

 

id wash the whole truck first . if it drys before you get to dry it yourself rewet it with the hose and then use eagle 1 wax as you dry......i use that and it removes all kinda spotting etc.

 

wash the truck late in the afternoon duhh or early in the morning man

 

Keep all the sections wet periodically as you wash... you're in Amarillo, so that'll rinse the newly deposited dust off as well until you can dry it

 

Here in Amarillo, there is not much humidity and things dry very quickly. I did wash in the late afternoon.

Best bet is to wash in the evening, get out of the sun and let the paint cool down. I Detail for a living so I've got a Spot Free Water system which allows me to wash in the sun without spotting. If your anal about a clean vehicle (like Me) Its a very good investment.

I'm not saying you have to go buy one because you can easily wash the truck in the shade, the spots are coming from the minerals in the water so your water may be pretty hard. If your not careful, hard water spots can etch the clear coat so I would recommend being out of the sun!

 

I wet the whole truck and start on a section. Finish that section and rinse it off and re wet the next section and repeat until I'm done. Then I rewet the whole car and get my back pack blower and dry it off in about 5 minutes. It's a ton faster to dry with air when you keep up on the wax. If you don't want to spend the $400 or so on a decent leaf blower then a california water blade works really well for the majority of the water then for the rest use a towel or deer skin.

 

get some girls in bikinis to wet the truck, and themselves while you wash it.

 

Buy a gallon of detail spray. After you wash, mist the truck with it. Then wipe down and buff it out.

 

or get the mr clean water filter so no water spots

is this the first vehicle you've ever washed before? just wash when the sun goes down or take it to a car wash.
