So, someone decided to walk up the street and key EVERYONE's car...no one knows who did it, but a lot of us have our suspicions (new people across the street, have a lot of foot traffic to and from at all hours of the night). Long story short, I was recommended the Quixx Scratch remover that is available at WalMart for about $16. Here are some before and after pictures.

For the most part, you can barely tell there was a scratch there. The rear door still needs some elbow grease and TLC, but that will be at a future date. I'm thinking I need to try the touch-up paint and wet sand route.

Took this as an excuse to give the whole truck a wax before the rain starts.

touch up paint and wetsand will stand out pretty bad on that door. I wouldn't suggest it. Why not report the issue, and get your insurance to pay for paint?

they look at it as a "claim", which causes it to go up...at least thats what happened when someone rammed a shopping cart into my uncles car (same ins company)

Your deductible shouldn't go up... Claims like this are typically comprehensive claims, not collision, therefore rates don't increase. If your insurer is trying to jack your rates because of a comprehensive claim, you're in need of a new insurer.

Either way, it seems as though you've got to fix this yourself. Stick with polishing to get rid of the scratches. Just be careful, as Toyota's don't use much clear anymore, and you don't have a lot of product to work with. Once you see the peel start to disappear, ease off on the polishing, as you're getting pretty thin on clear.
