I know you have to dig the center out of the letters but do you have to cut around the badge to get the excess off?

    Nope

Just pull it off, it peels off and will break at the letters if you are careful

    nope, it just pulls off
I do pull close to the truck, instead of straight out....not sure if it makes a diff or not?
digging out the letters, I used a tool I got from the Dentist Office (like a J shape but very thin)

I think it's crazy how it just breaks away like that:confused: I thought I was going to have to use dental floss, but it just breaks away, like its perforated:cool: must be just enough gap between the truck and badge.

when removing the masking tape, I had a dull razor blade that the plastidip fought pretty hard against. Then i got a new blade and that solved the problem. Point is that plastidip is pretty tough! I'm happy that i can peal it off and redo it if i ever wanted to. :D

How long should I wait between coats if I'm doing my badges? I've searched this a few times but just can't find a actual detailed write up about it. I wanted to paint them but if all I have to do is clean the badges and spray them I'm all about that.

I just waited for it to not be tacky. I did some in the evening, about 55°. Took about 20 minutes each coat. Did others the next day, about 75°. Took only like 5 minutes each.

so this stuff is matte black. How does one go about getting a semi gloss or gloss finish? clear coat over top? I am thinking about painting my rims but if i could get a semi gloss / gloss finish out of this i might do it. also my bugshield is peeling the outer clear layer. wonder if i could just plasticoat it? i was going to pull it paint and clear coat glossy but........

i tried looking through the threads but its sooo stinking long i got cross eyed. has anyone tried the clear coat over the plasti-dip to get a nice glossy finish? pics if it worked out or advice if it didnt please? also if you sand and prep with some plastic adherence prep spray does it prolong the dip?

I rattle canned my bug deflector with some Krylon plastic paint after the clear layer bubbled up and looked crappy but you can still see some of the lines where i couldnt get all the clear layer off. im thinking a little plasti dip would smooth it all out.

Ive rattle canned clear coat over plastidip, didn't look like gloss paint, so I peeled it off. It is shinier but doesn't look that great in my opinion.

I am thinking of doing my chrome grille surround but I am really worried about getting my grille off without busting tabs off. I know there are like two screws and two clips and then pull up straight. What's the key to getting the grille off without breaking anything?

wait about 5 minutes in between coats, sunny days are the best to paint (helps dip dry faster).

Okay, I took the grill off with no issues but really did not like the look of it when I got finished. There were shadow looking marks at the top that had a bit of texture to it when finished. I just could not get it to blend. Took me about five minutes but it is now back to chrome. I was not impressed. I will leave the emblem but that may even get changed to another color.
