The touchups I have done on my rhino, which havent been much, I spray dip onto a small paint brush, and brush it on the spots. Doesnt look awesome, but not bad. Unless you are looking for the spots, you cant see them.

 

Finally got a few pictures of my Dip fun.

I started with 2012 with SR5 package, so the stupid chrome grill and bumper, and OEM wheels.



Have dipped: rear bumper, front grill and lower bumper, front emblem, and wheels.

 

If my chrome rear bumper on a 2002 has a little rust and it kinda cracked/caved in will it affect me painting the whole bumper?

 

You can't paint over rust or any imperfection and expect it to have any longevity. Rust is going to still continue to grow under the plasti dip. It will eventually blister the paint/plasti dip. But if you just want a season out of it and don't care, it will work temporarily.

 

Looks like I'll be purchasing an All-Pro rear bumper instead.

 

Anyone plasti dip their grille of a 2010 trd sport easy hard don't like the grey

 

Matte Clear Rustoleum on plastidip a good idea? Already had to redo one wheel and I need ideas to keep it last much longer

Does it affect peeling it off?

 

Yes , any kind of paint or clear other than the plasti dip glossifier will make plasti dip a pain to peel off. Instead of it peeling in big pieces your gonna be stuck chipping away at it for hours. I wouldn't recommend it. Try the glossifier, maybe that will give it a tad more durability. Otherwise they do make a re-liquefying fluid that helps with touch ups for when they are needed.

 

It peels just fine. Not quite as easily but it peels clean

 

well I just got done repainting one because it got messed up in the car wash and in when they balanced my wheels. I did 4 coats last time but they were so thin so It didn't peel. I had to use goof off and it working much better. I only did 5 minutes between coats, huge mistake. doing 20 between coats this time.

 

have you tried this? when I did it, the plasti dip wasn't rubbery anymore and when I went to peel there was no way it peeled like normal plasti dip, it came of in tiny little pieces that would take atleast an hour+ to get off an entire wheel if doing it by hand. Also there are many videos out there that I saw (after trying for my self) that show how difficult it is to peel the dip after painting over it or using a different clear. If you were able to use a different brand clear coat over normal plasti dip and were able to peel it like normal, I gotta know your process.

 

I did it on my wheels a year ago. My wheels got balanced a few months ago so there's a bare spot on each wheel. I'm gonna fix it soon and i'll take a video of it peeling.
Crappy picture, but you can kinda tell it's all pulling up on one piece. I did a ton of coats of Plasti Dip and at least 3 coats of clear

 

I did two dustings of clear and 4 of plasti

 

I did several of clear cause I wanted them to be glossy. And also wanted them to be somewhat permanent. If it wasnt for getting the tires balanced they'd still be great.

 

Scrape the loose rust off. Burnish lightly with a non-metallic scouring pad. Put a thin coat, or two, of POR-15 over the rust after the included prep solutions...incredible stuff!

 

The clear coat I have kinda leaves a white tint to the black. Doesn't bother me too much because it just means I have more protection than I did before.
