Light blue tacoma w/ black badges?

well, just depends on how you want it to look. i think it'll look fine either way, but me personally, i like flat black a little better.

 

+1....I'm going low gloss satin for my grill and rims....but what ever makes you happy is the important part...You gotta drive it and take credit for the work!!

 

On the bottom or underside,Flat black. Up top or on the sides gloss. Black on SWB. is a great combo.

Any tips or pointers for someone who has never done anything with his badges. I have an impulse red Taco with black accents everywhere so I think it would look nice with black.... but don't want to totally screw it up....

 

take them off and paint them man!!!!!!! it will look great!!! when i painted mine, i took them off, cleaned real good/washed with dish detergent, then placed them o cardboard, and i used some adhesion promoter and then some duplicolor flat black, and i put them back on with some 3m double sided tape. here are my finished results.............



its hard to screw up man....just go lightly with the paint for a few good coats...........i did 6 coats adhesion promoter/6 coats of duplicolor(pretty sure thats about the number of each coat).

 

How tough was it to put them back on .... my fear is that with an '04 in the hot florida sun I will have the "fading" where the badges were (or not were). So getting them back on perfectly would be my main fear. With the double sided tape do you just cut the tape to the shape of the emblem? Like each letter?? or just every few letters?

 

hey man....mine is an 04 also. when you remove the emblems, yeah...there will be outlines.........wash the area with dish soap to remove any wax around the area, but leave enough of the outline to put the emblems back in the right spot. as for the 3m tape......i cut a lot of small strips to go on each letter, then peeled the red plastic off with a pair of tweezers, then reinstalled the emblems. piece o' cake buddy!!!
