Offroading Pinstripes

So has anyone found a fairly decent way to hide those little badges of honor referred to a pinstripes from offroading?

 

Polish
then
Wax on
Wax off
repeat
(repeat the wax on wax off part that is)

 

That's it... hire one of those mobile detailers to clean up the scratches every so often...

 

LOL. Luckily they're pretty much all on the passenger side. Guess I was spending so much time avoiding the brush on the driver's side that I was too close on the passenger side.

My ocd kicked in though when I unlocked the door for my wife and saw them so now I'm on a mission to do my best to get rid of them.

Nah I love these meets too much to stop going. It is making me wish I got a silver truck instead of the green though.

One thing I've been thinking about and let me know what you guys think. What if before a meet one was to apply a real thick coat of wax but not buff it off? Thinking that would protect it. Now I know this isn't feasible for each trip but say if you knew you were going to Wharton and it was going to be really overgrown. Stokes from what I've seen is not really an issue with this.

I tried that.
Put three coats on. If it helped, it wasn't much.

 

I picked up a bunch last weekend, and after a good wash, they are either gone, or no longer visible. I think the truck being white has something to do with it though. Glad I got white afterall

 

it just depends. the best bet is to polish them with a machine. a dual action polisher, aka DA or PC (porter cable), and the right foam pads and product will take care of them to the point where they won't be nearly as noticeable. if they are deep enough, they can be beyond the point of being totally removed, but even if they aren't deep enough, if you continually make them disappear, get more, polish, get yet more, and polish, over and over, you will end up really wearing out the clear coat and making it too thin. so if you plan on going off-road again, it would be best just to clean them up to make them minimal, as opposed to trying to totally remove them.

a new method that might be worth investigating is getting the truck professionally detailed by a boutique type detailer (like the prominent detailers on truthindetailing, autogeek, etc). and then getting it coated with a "nano coating" product called opti-coat. it's almost like a second clear coat and will help resist the scratches from the branches.
