'Just Married' -- writing on truck

I have a good friend getting married next month. I’m wondering what is the best product to use to write ‘just married’ and other funny things on his truck after the wedding? Obviously I’m looking for something that is ultra safe and wont ruin windows or trim pieces, and is easy to clean up. My friend is as meticulous about his rig as I am for mine, so I know how careful he will want us to be. The last thing I want is to ruin his truck or have him worrying about getting home from his honeymoon to clean up our mess.

Best bet is to NOT do it then. I went to a wedding over the summer, and they wrote all over the truck with some kinda marker..that night it rained and washed it all off, with no traces..No idea what it was tho, but I know I'd be pissed if someone wrote all over my truck.

Windows are one thing, but the paint....

 

they make a window marker for vehicles. you just have to make sure you DO NOT get it on the window rubber or plastic trim. it DOES NOT COME OFF if the sun gets to it for a few hours. it comes off the glass just fine though

 

Use a grease marker. They're available at Staples, etc... That's what I use in my shop, they show up nice on the paint, and wash off easy with a mild solvent.

 

Vinyl wrap

 

Not if the truck is anything other than black. The ink can, and has, stained paint.

 

They have window crayons.. They come off with water or Windex and leave no residue or trace of the stuff.

The cheerleaders use it on everyone's trucks all the time

 

I use black/white/red grease markers on every colour of car that comes into my shop, and I put 10 - 12 cars out the door a day, so I'd say the grease-marker route will work just fine.

The only issues we've ever had was with black slightly staining heavily oxidized white/tri-coat paints, but again, it washes off with a mild solvent.

 

I wouldn't do it... if he's as meticulous as you say, I don't think he'd find the humor it in. Write on the windows with a bar of soap, leave the paint alone. Or put a vinyl wrap or magnetic sheet on his tailgate and scribble all you want.

the make a grease marker you can find at office max office depot or most craft stores, dealership use them, they look good come off with a razor... and their only about 4 bucks, just need one..

 

DO NOT DO IT.

That is the ONLY safe way to make sure you don't mess anything up. It can be a bitch to get off windows if it gets left for more than a couple hours and if it gets on ANYTHING but windows you'll be screwed.

Get a sign tape/tie it on or something like that....

 

I would be pissed if someone did this to my truck even though I don't consider myself to be meticulous about my truck. A new paint job is expensive and not something you want to undertake along with all the other expenses of a new marriage. Like someone else said already, the only safe way is to not do it at all.

 

We just used the beer cans from the reception on my buddy's car. We used A LOT of beer cans too lol.

I would just get one of those window marker things. They wash off easily. Back in my drag racing days, they would write the numbers on the windows with those at the track.

 

I really hope you mean you use a razor to get the stuff off the windows... You should NEVER take a razor to your paint job.

 

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll buy a few different options and give them a test on my truck before I do anything else.

 

Fun idea we did to a friend's car: Rain X. Sort of a reverse marker. We Rain X'd our "message" on his rear window. Next time it rained, there it was.

To "remove" it, just Rain X the whole window.
