I was just wondering how to effectively remove the chrome emblems without messing up the paint

I used Dental floss, no issues. Use a sawing motion, it will break at times so make sure you have plenty of it, it will cut through the spongy double-sided tape pretty easy. After teh emblems are off, you will have tape residue on the paint, I took that off with "Goo-gone". The paint finish was perfect when all done, not one scratch, smudge, etc. Good luck.
