Raptor Liner - Anyone have experience?

Same as my question in another thread about Herculiner... except now I think Raptor Liner is a better option for me, sooo...

Thinking of buying some step bars and Raptor Lining them myself to provide long lasting rust prevention to the steel step bars (not stainless).

I've priced getting them Line-X'ed, it's about $200. So if I can get almost the same results for less than 1/2 the cost, I'd like to do that.

Does anyone have experience with Raptor Liner? Does it look professional and does it work well as a rust preventer? Will it last if proper surface prep is done?

Raptor liner is the best DIY liner in my opinion. The finish is the best if you spray it on. If you buy the kit it should come with a gun so you'll just need a compressor to spray it.

Personally I wouldn't use liner on step bars if you do any offroad driving. It will get scraped off just like paint if you are dragging them in the rocks/dirt. If your steps are purely cosmetic, then it will work great. Raptor liner is a smoother finish than Herculiner. I think it looks WAY better than Herculiner but if you are after some extra grip on the steps then Herculiner will have a more gritty finish. I just think herculiner looks like ass.

Herculiner does look pretty rough IMO - that's why i made this thread, lol.

I wont be doing much off roading in this truck until it has over 100k...it has 4k as of now, lol.

The reason why I'm doing this is because plain painted step bars won't hold up in PA with salt/chemicals. So I want a more durable longer lasting finish that will prevent rusting. I don't want stainless because it has too much bling, and it's color tarnishes.
