Who uses a shammy?

I bought another one yesterday and tried to use it... I know people swear by them, but everytime I've tried to used them, they're crap...

Is there a secret to using them? I just get nothing but streaks...

 

i use them all the time. to me....the key is to soak them in water, then wring them out and use them that way. and i usually do get any water streaks doing it this way.

 

like a chamois?

i personally use a towel on my cars. white, made in the USA 100% cotton.

i use one...you need to get it wet first, and then ring all the water out. you have to periodically ring it out after it soaks up a certain amount of water.

if it gets dirty, i just hit it with the power washer at the car wash.

It is meant to be used wet, soak it and ring it out. I always use an "absorber" same thing always wet it first.

i use one I got at a local show. It does a pretty damn good job. It feels like a cheaply made thing, but it works. As mentioned you have to get them wet to work first. Next time I wash and dry my truck, maybe ill shoot a vid of it.

It must be completely soaked and then wrung out. As you wipe down the truck and it gets soaked, just keep wringing it out. Also rinse it often to keep it clean. Most car washes around here have the hand cranked spring-loaded roller thingy to wring out the water.

Next time you use one, just make sure to get it wet first. That is the key... wet is good. Dry is not.

I dont actually use a wipe motion you are just supposed to dab / pat and it soaks water right up

 

I use a california water blade. I loved it on my black Tacoma. On the silver one I could use anything.

 

I saturate it with warm water befire wringing it out. It gets the material all soft and pliable.

I send it over the roof and hood almost like i am fishing with a net, then drag it back at me to get the majority of the water off, and then light swipe any remaining water.
