So my truck is 3 days old, driving on the road today the car in frot of me kicked up a flat aluminum / metal thing in the road it fle into my brand new truck and left a pretty nasty scratch. It's about a pencils width an about a inch long and down to the metal. It's so deep the paint is flaking around it. P

So my question is will touch up paint work on something that deep? What is the best way to fix this? Thanks

Yes touch up paint will work, but it may take multiple applications in order to bring the touch up paint to level of the surrounding paint. I would recommend getting a kit from Dr. Colorchip or LANGKA as it makes the repairs much easier.

I would have a professional look at it. Using touch up paint correctly so it doesn't look like globbed on crap takes time and is a process.

As long as you use a quality kit, take your time and apply a few thin coats you should be fine. Most of us make the mistake of applying too much paint at one time. If you're scared to do it yourself you might drop by an auto body shop and have them take a look at it and see what they think (and would charge to repair it). I did that one time several years ago and the shop repaired it for me on the spot...for free.

If you have paint flaking, then take it to a shop. Why would you not want to fix a 3 day old truck right?
