I have just been lazy but I typically wax it. How long can you go before it gets real bad in your opinion?

A small handful of select mods.
Staining should come off a truck with a good cleaner wax so long as you still have decent clear coat. If you have a clear bra though get it washed off right away. It stains clear bra permanently. Trust me, i know. :D
