    Explain the smell?
Could be coolant, could be the smell of feet.
Does it smell like anti freeze?

AC compressor runs when on defrost to dry the air, could be mildew on the evaporator.

I haven't figured anything out I have had people tell me it smells like vinegar tho. It's only on feet and defrost/feet. I have just avoided using those settings as much as possible.

Previous owner have children? Spilled milk that spoils smells a bit like vinegar. Buddy couldn't sell a trade in cuz of spilled/spoiled milk. Removed everything in the cab, gave it a bath and most of it went away.

Inside the HVAC box there is a shallow depression at the base of the evaporator. Perfect place for condensation off the evaporator to collect and grow stinky stuff. A hose drains this space to the outside. Maybe outlet of hose plugged?

Sorry for the revival, but I’m curious if any conclusion came from this! Same situation here, get a smell only when on defrost or foot setting with the heat on (not through head vents, not when A/C is on, and it’s worse at the low setting than with just def)

At first it almost smelled like a massive overuse of air freshener. Kinda spicy/floral/maybe a tiny bit sweet and a tiny hint of possible gasoline smell but not enough to say “yeah, that smells like gas”...

    I’m stumped!
