I use "Gunk engine degreaser" and "CD2 engine detailer".
Any auto part store sells them.

okay, another question, what exactly did you do to clean it? use a hose or just spray on wipe off? i was thinking about using a hose when its warmer but i don't want to turn my alternator or fuse box into a swimming pool, among other things.

Edit: i have searched a bit, but it seems there's no real application specific taco guide that i found... just general " don't get water on electrical stuff" tips....

What I do, I use regular water hose with a cheap garden water gun. The only think I cover is the alternator (I've done this without covering it). I rinse the whole engine bay (cold engine) to get the dust, dirt, etc., off.

Then I spray it with the Gunk engine degreaser, let it sit for about 15 mins, then rise it all off really good.

Finally after letting it air dry, I spray the CD2 engine detailer and after 20 min I run the engine for about 15 mins. The final result looks something like this:

I just cleaned it yesterday.
