Anyone use a water filtration system when washing vehicles? I have pretty hard water and with the Texas Heat, thinking about investing in one to reduce water spots. After doing research, a ton of different systems are available. Wanted people's opinion if you own one and whether or not it has been worth it? Also, how many washes have you been able to perform until changing the cartridge?

I've done a mod or two
I'd give good look at the Kenmore water softeners. They are common in my college town for small houses and houses on well water. I believe some of the come with more advanced filtration features too. good luck!

    No mods yet...
I used to live in New Mexico and had a reverse oasmis system in the house to remove the limestone. It was awesome. The only problem is it's not fast and has very little pressure. I used it as a last rinse after the wash to help remove water deposits via splashing with a bucket. Just an idea...

I actually have an RO unit on my fish tank and you are correct in that they are not fast enough. But, they are great products.

Home depot/Lowes has a Watts 5-year/20,000 gal water filter for appx $25. I have 3 of them, not for my truck, but for the hard water taste here in Dallas. Not sure of the specs on flow rate, etc, but I can say my sink puts out pretty good (that handle extension thing to jet spray the dishes...). I don't imagine it would shoot all the dried up mud from the wheel wells, but it would do fine to wet and rinse. With just a little planning, you could have 2 outputs on your faucet, one filtered, one not.
