they are old technology and way less efficient than waffle weave microfibers.

they work, but have been superseded by better stuff. they require a lot more effort and don't deal that well with any residual surface contaminants. they by nature are more apt to drag something across the surface.

a synthetic chamois is a reasonable alternative to a leather one if you have to use any.

I just use an old towel. We have a stack in the laundry room. I keep one in the truck and wash it off whenever I want it to shine.

I usually use the Absorber but I don't wipe, I lay it flat on a panel and rub my arm or hand over it once. (at least as minimal wiping as possible). The front end I have to do some dabbing and a little wiping but the front end is exposed to a lot worse than that.

I bought an electric leaf blower today since I was doing a complete and major detailing. It worked great and I'll be using that a lot and following up with the absorber for the random drops. It gets the water out of the cracks like the rear view mirrors, the hood scoop, the front bumper where it meets the grill, the rear tailgate/bumper area. I aslo used the blower on the undercarriage after I pressure washed and scrubbed it, which I detailed with bare bones (awesome stuff).

Aw, that's the worst, man. It will leave lots of fine scratches and your paint will look bad in time.

If you care about keeping your paint nice, at least get one of those big bundles of microfiber towels at Costco or Sam's club for about $7.00. Or just using an Absorber, that you can get from any auto parts store, will be much better than that.

You don't have to be anal, but an old cotton towel is not a good choice.

I use an absorber towel to get the bulk, then I go back over it with a detail towel. Then when that's done I get a couple shitty towels and get the inside of the doors and floor boards, then the rims. Works pretty well :D

It depends. If I have cut the yard and then washed the truck I will use my Echo backpack blower because it is out already. Otherwise an old towel.

I hear ya! When I do wash it. I dry it with an absorber.
Wish I could find somebody to keep it clean for me. Needs clayed and polished with a porter cable.

I bought this big microfiber towel from Walmart. I think it's 36"x36". I feel kinda bad because the wife can barely lift it when she's done but the truck sure looks nice.

I just use a leaf blower for the front, gets all the water out of the front grille, fog light edges, and all the little nooks and crannies in the front end. works wonders. On the sides i usually just wipe it down.
