Somebody dinged my wife's door on her Murano. They left a good scratch and a small dent. Short of taking it to a body shop to be repaired, does anybody know of a way to prevent the paint from chipping or rusting through (some kind of protective coating, wax or anything like that)? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

If you don't want to fix the dent- Then clean it up and get some touch up paint from the dealership or online to seal it...

If the ding is in the approx. area of where body side molding would be, I would paint the area and cover with side moldings ( www.dawn-ent.com ). If you already have body side molding or it is not in a good spot you will have to just touch it up with paint and try to forget about it.

There is little that can be done with a door ding that has broke the paint surface without having a full repair and paint job.
