I wouldn't use your insureance. Best of luck to you.

^ why not? vandalism shouldnt cost my rates to increase by too much. plus dont we pay insurance to be able to use it one day? Im just gonna pocket what insurance thinks it will take to fix it and use that money to fix it myself, unless I can find a shop to do it for less than what insurance actually gives me.

From what I can tell you always pay for it in the end. While insureance might give you money for it they will rasie your rates to make up that lost money. But let me refraise that if it is gonna cost you more than $200 it is probably better to use insureance other wise don't bother them with little things.

My earlier refinish advice stands.

The single part of my insurance coverage that has NO DEDUCTIBLE is comprehensive. Comprehensive covers non-collision events like this. The cost of going "0/0" -- with a good underwriter -- isn't enough to think about. Also, a GOOD underwriter won't rape you after a claim.

Over the years I've made claims for damage from rocks, tree limbs and vandals. Glass is a regular problem. Wifey has a habit of running over raccoons, at an average claim of $1,000. My company sucks it up. Our rates have DECLINED over the past ten years.

Comprehensive claims are almost always NOT the fault of the insured. A good insurance company understands this.
