I've used two products: Scat Cat and Scat Mat, but both require a power source so I'm not sure if they would work in your situation.

The Scat Cat is a motion-sensor rigged to a LOUD ultrasonic speaker that scares the crap out of any cat that sets it off. Doesn't bother my dogs, but I know it works on the cats (and I need to turn it off when working out there or my ears ring for hours!)

The Scat Mat is a soft-backed mat that you lay on top of your hood and plug in. Make sure the hood is dust-free or you end up with scratches not from the cat. When you touch it, you'll feel a mild shock. Drives cats nuts.

Get a cover for your truck. It'll protect your paint against the harsh winter elements as well.

I Use Repel II dog and cat repellant. I buy it from PetSmart. It's a powder like substance that comes in a milk carton container and you just sprinkle it around your property. It works pretty well.

OP, pour some black pepper on the hood. eventhough wind and rain will blow it away, keep apllying it. it works.

I had a two cats fight on my hood when the truck was about two weeks old. Several hours of buffing and I can still see the scratches. I HATE irresponsible pet owners but I like cats and dogs. Nothing else I can do. I do like the KA commercial.

k&n intake kit, flowmaster original 40 series muffler 1 in 2 out. 2 kicker cvt10's powered by a kicker 750.1 amp.
mouse traps= bad idea, when it pops could cause more scratches then the cat, i just use my pellet gun when i even see them close. or some old firecrackers usually does the trick and they dont come back
