Little Black Spots all over car .......

Hi guys, thought I would pass this on, my other car and the side of my house had little black spots I thought came from the trees. They are like glue and tough to get off, when I got my Tacoma I parked it at the end of my driveway and have no problem with these spots. Anyway here is an article from a Penn State Dr. with the answer to the problem.

Was doing a search on Waxing a White Truck and found this...

Thanks for that link...very timely.
I have the exact same problem in North Carolina.
Never knew what they were, but they sure are hard to get
off once they've dried on.

I spent nearly the entire weekend cleaning them off and putting a nice
coat of wax on.

Something that worked ok for me was a small wet piece of cedar
wood...using the flat/straight edge of a freshly cut pc. It was able
to knock the black top part off easy enough...still had to work
hard to get the brown residue off, but i did get it done.
No scratches in the paint either.

I'll need to park my truck further away from my mulched area.

I think i'll claybar the Truck next.

I would guess they might also be bug droppings. I've had that before.

Holy thread revival batman!

Why didn't I see this thread earlier?. I got this shit all over my truck!!
It's worse mostly in the fall/spring and like...right now.

A good wax on the truck makes it easier to get off. Some extra scrubbing with the soap/water.... Not a big deal, just annoying.

A new layer of mulch usually helps prevent invasions. I just don't have the time to do it every year.

I thought it was road tar when i first saw them, but it
didn't make sense as it was mainly on one side of the truck
(the side nearest the mulch where i park...)
and i didnt have any in the wheel wells....just on the door, fender
and some on the edge of the hood.

Anyway, all gone now and they are easier to get off
after one has wax on the truck. And no kidding,
i had just cleaned the front right fender and went
in the house to take a break...(also known as getting another beer)
and there was one there again where i had cleaned...
but it just fell right off because it hadn't had time to dry
on the paint i guess?
