Buffers,

I wanna go buuy a buffer yesterday. what a good one i can pick up in a hoem depot or whatever, i dont wanna order online as i need it asap. whats my best option, what do you use.

 

I use a Porter Cable 7424 but you would probably have to order it.

You could look and see if you can find it locally. You might have some luck finding a semi decent one at Sears.

7424xp is the newest version, made specifically for buffing. I have a previous version thats been great for ~5 years. Perfect for the driveway enthusiast. It's not as powerful as a rotary, but won't damage paint with burn through on corners or seams.

I know you want to get locally, but I'd suggest skipping the home depot or autozone crappy buffers and order the porter cable. Spend a little extra and do it right from the start.

This machine with a couple Lake Country orange colored pads and a couple white pads, along with some compound/polish will last you +/- forever and give you great results.

ok, so i went to autogeek.net and there are a whole bunch of porter cable

7424xp kits, which one is best for me, i am not sure what pads in the combo kits will work to my needs. so which combo kit works best for me if i wanna wash the truck and then wax n polish or whatver to get the best protective shine before it snows. thanks

i have those guys do it for me

 

i have always done it by hand as well, the one chris said only has bosch polishers and they are like $300 in the kit. im not about to drop that right now. it lookslike i will be doing it by and for now, maybe i will have a nj taco meet and get enough people to each cover one section of teh truck, and it will be done in 20 minutes. lol, start restin dave, i have the double cab, its gonna take a little longer....lol

 

ill just have the guys in the detail shop next door do it

 

really,,,,,,how much they charge, or since both of our trucks are silver and have the horns, and same grill, they wont notice...lol,, btw dave you have a website or business cards i can pick up, i can refer a lot of poeple to your shop.
