Since Ive got my truck (about 3-4 months ago) Ive been waxing it regularly with Megs#26. I really like the wax as the car feels great and has the nice gloss to it but Im wondering if there's any other waxes you guys use with a deeper shine and longer lasting (<--This being the primary concern). I like to keep a coat of protection on my truck as I hit the trails every now and then so i wax about every 4-6 weeks and the shine doesnt last too long. What do you guys recommend?

What are your opinions on it? How often do you wax?

Yea I had a newer civic before this truck and I did the same thing, drove through one of those automated car washed and it thrashed my paint, the swirl marks were really bad.

Ive never heard of xilon. Gotta check that out.

I like turtle wax ice but it doesn't last long. It's much faster to put on though.

On the paint I use Meguiar's Gold Class Liquid Wax and it lasts quite a while and make washing a breeze. Also drying is made easier because I use a leafblower the water just slips right off.

I bought a buffer but I don't think it does as good of a job compared to doing by hand so I only used it once and since then I've done it all by hand.

I use the zymol products, i dont spend 2 g's like dgerm above. I get the liquid or paste waxes at pep boys, usually less than 50 bucks. It lasts the longest of any wax i have ever used.

I have had really good luck with then on top of that, usually about 4-5 months of protection.

You could also go with the , they claim up to 12 months of protection

What color is your Tacoma? The 2 posters above me are right on the money,

Different product produces different results. We first need to know the color to make a recommendation.

I haven't tried those together but have used each individually and they do last the longest of the waxes I've used.

Color does matter. Some colors are very hard to make the shine POP with a deep gloss. White and silver are the hardest colors to make pop. The attributes of the two colors that make it very hard to see swirl marks, scratches and dirt comes with the price of not showing a deep rich shine. This does not mean that there is no protection after you finish polishing and waxing. I have never worked on the MG color. I have seen the color at the dealers lot and it appears more dark than silver.

If you are looking for a decent wax that will not break the bank the Natty's poor boys red is a fine product.

Below is a rather long post of a full detail and write up I did on my sisters white Bonneville earlier this past summer.

    Detailed my Sister’s 98 Bonneville

About a month ago I offered to troubleshoot a keyless entry problem on my sister’s car. When I opened the hood to check a fuse in the fuse center I was real sorry that I did not have any gloves with me. Right then I offered to detail her car. This past week my sister has been at the ocean and I had the car from last Thursday till tomorrow. She will be amazed when I return the car.

My basic process was as follows.

    Wash car with Z7
Claybar with leftover Pinnacle Poly, Megs smooth surface, and Z18 clay.
Use Makita with FMP and SIP for major scratches
Use Makita with FMP and Micro for swirl marks on paint.
Use PC7424 white pad and Micro on the plastic body cladding.
Use PC7424 with blue pad and PO85RD for final polish
    Do an IPA wipe down
    1 coat of Z5P
    Z6 wipe down
    1 coat of Z2P
2 coats of Pinnacle Liquid Souveran wax

    Here are some before pics.

I would like to thank Rsurfer, Killrwheels, Harleyguy and Asphalt Rocket for answering my questions on the forum or via PM to go ahead and top a sealant with a wax. And to help with my questions on using a Makita Rotary.

I have to say that I really like the way Pinnacle Liquid Souveran wax looks on white. The wax goes on smooth and wipes off easy. It is like using liquid butter.

It rained last night so I took a few morning bubble pics because I know you guys love them.

Sorry I should have included the translation of the process that was used on my sisters car.

Wash car with Z7- Zaino car wash. Zaino for the most part uses a Z then a number to name the products.

Pretty much the weekend. My wife and son were out of town so I was able to devote extra time to the detail.

One nice thing about detailing, and having a garage, is I do not have to do it all at once but rather break it down into manageable tasks.

I think I put 13 to 14 hours into the detail.
