I have a 2006 tacoma and would like to see if anyone knows how the side and rear "TACOMA" emblems are held on so I can take them off and paint them black?

Also any tips on glue to re-install?

    thanks in advance,
    Brian

goo-gone is safe to use... DO NOT use goof-off as it will mess up the clear coat.

They come off relatively easy... If I were you I'd wait until summer to do it... just debadged my Silvy a couple weeks ago and it was a pain.... it's easier when it's warm out (hence the hair dryer / heat gun).

In the summer it would be easier to remove them if you don't trust yourself with a heat gun. Also, I would recommend 10 lb test. I had a hell of a time with 8 lb test but it is also winter and I left my heat gun at work and was forced to use my wife's worn out hair dryer.

WD40 works good as well for removing the excess residue.

I used a hair dryer and fishing line. Then waxed it up, came out great. There were way too many emblems on the truck!

I used cheap string like dental floss to remove the badges from my Accord, it was very easy even without the heat. Cleaned up the area with Meguiars cleaner wax.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
I waited for a hot summer day and mine peeled right off.

    De-Flapped, De-badged. Sockmonkey decals installed.
I used a heat gun with the removal of my emblems and it worked like a charm. You just have a to heat the area a little at a time and run fishing line in a sawing motion. It took me at least 20-30 minutes to get the tailgate emblems off. It looks good and you'll be pleased with the results.
