Fixing rock chip plan

I have quite a few small rock chips on various parts of my truck. Most look like they are down to the metal. Luckily there is no rust so I shouldn't have to sand right? How does this sound for a method to fill them:

1. Wipe area clean of dust and dirt
2. Clean area with alcohol
3. Apply oil primer to the bare metal only and let dry
4. Apply thin layer of touchup paint from dealer
5. Let dry and repeat as many times as needed
6. Polish truck
7. Wax truck

The problem I have had in the past with touch up paints is that they would come off in the wash. But I was just slapping it on, rather than going through a whole process like this. Think this will work alright?

When I get to doing this I will make a video of the one big one to record the progress and overall outcome.

 

I'd recommend getting some www.langka.com kit.

Do the same as you mentioned, but the Langka kit allows you to remove the excess blob that you create by applying the touch-up paint. You smooth it down to almost flush. It's not perfect but its a whole lot better than having a blob of touch-up paint. It takes some practice to work with to get it right.
