I would start with a wash then use either Mothers or Meguires clay bar kit. If that takes care of the problem throw two coats of wax on the Tacoma and call it a day.

I agree. If that doesn't work they have started to etch in and will require polishing to remove.

Thanks guys, I've actually clayed my truck but the spots still remain. Which must mean its etched in. Any good water stains/spot remover out there for paint?

    Thanks again!

Try a finishing polish and see if that will remove them. If not use a more aggressive polish.

I have not used that product but have never heard anything bad only good reviews. I have used Megs 21 or Zaino Z2P or Z5P with great sucess on rims. Either product you use will make rim clean up a snap going forward after applying the product and your rims will look sharp.

Stock wheels are clear coated so a metal polish won't do much good. You should just use a light polish, such as what you would use on paint. Then coat with a sealant and you should be good.

I also use DP Wheel Glaze which cleans the wheels up rather well. On the Tacoma I have winter tires on the stock steelies and summer tires on a set of 17in rims. I clean them up before going into storage in the off season. Really nice to just take out the wheels, dust them off and be ready to install. I also use Zaino on the tires before going into storage as well and clean up the lug nuts too.

Summer tires go back on in the 2nd week of April!!!!

Anyone have tips on cleaning out their applicator pads for a buffer?

Also, how much wax should we go through in detailing a car? I used probably 3/4 of the carnauba wax. I never felt like there was enough going on to the paint. This is what I was using. When I was wringing it out for probably 30 minutes, I kept on getting wet wax that was lodged in there

And any liquid wax anyone can recommend? Not a sealant.

This is what I use to clean my buffer pads.

As far as the amount of wax to use, a little goes a long way. Using 3/4 of a container of wax sounds like waaaay to much!

Way too much wax on the applicator pad. I have used Mother's carnuba wax in the past done at minimum 4 cars with it and not even used half of the container.

I use a pad cleaning bucket. Cost a little more but makes pad clean up a snap.

You are using way too much wax. Apply the coat so thin you can barely see it. Wait 12 hours and apply a second coat for a truly stunning finish.

So should I have dabbed the wax on a 2 by 2 area, then spread it using the pad, then used the machine?

Google "Junkman2000". He has quite a few videos on detailing and how to use proper technique when polishing and waxing.

I usually use a foam pad to apply wax. With the P21S it is wipe on wipe off so the thinner the coat of wax is better.

I usually let the 1st coat of wax sit over nite to cure/bond to the sealant. Then the next day I apply a second coat of wax. If you do this you will see the depth of color really come out on the vehicles finish.

My door to window weatherstripping on exterior has "spotted". It was neglected one summer outside but now is parked in garage. I haven't ordered 303 protectant yet, just using what I have on hand.
Would his help or is there anything else to try. I'm using clear magic,it seems to soak in and spots come back. I like meguiars products and have tried a back to black stuff by doesn't help.
    Thanks for help.

I find that the only way to completely restore LSP pads is to soak in mineral spirits for several hours then wash them in pad cleaner(snappy). I then rinse many times and let dry. This is the only way I've been able to remove all traces of wax.
