what is the order?

I want to make my truck look like it just came off the showroom floor..

Is the the order to detail?
  • wash
  • claybar
  • wax
  • dry
I guess my main question is do I claybar before I wax? Or wax before claybar?

Thanks

  1. Wash
  2. Dry
  3. Clay Bar
  4. Glaze/wax
try to do as much of this in the shade on a cool surface, it will be so much easier. I'd recommend Meguiars products as well. Pretty decent stuff and not crazy expensive.

I just did my truck this past weekend and looked immaculate... until it rained that night!

Got some good pics of it though...

Not sure what the sealant is but I wouldn't use the cleaner wax stuff... Most don't last that long and really are not a true substitute for paste waxes & polishes.

The clay bar is decent stuff though.

You could always try it out and let us know!

the clay is definitely awesome. after claying...you can use the cleaner wax as kind of a finisher for the clay, then you'd definitely be ready for polish and wax.

the sealant is kinda like a wax precoat(i think), it helps to keep the polish shining, and wax keeps it all protected and smooth.

thx for all the help/info!!!

I have washed - dryed - claybared - cleaner waxed, so far

3 hours later....
about to go polish and wax.

I must say that my claybar is still pretty white, didnt seem to pick up much. BUT, after the clay, the finish is as smooth as a babies ass. LOL

off to wax...

EDIT:
on 2nd thought...it's too HOT out there now--I'll be waxing in a bit

3-4 times a week!

Does your rig really get that dirty?

I am warn out, that is alotta friggin work... Tires and windows still need some attention. Also, I am thinking the badges are coming off VERY soon.
And the stupid dealer plate on the upper left tailgate area, (you can see it in the 1st pic) it is flush with the body so I cant get fishing line behind it.
Any suggestions taking it off?

OH and I put my TW sticker on today!

looks good and shiney man!!! bet its smooth as glass too!!! for getting that damn sticker off(cant dealers quit with that shit), use a heat gun or hair dryer....should pel right off with a bit of heat.....if any residual glue is left...ue a bit of goo gone. be sure to polish and wax that area too after you are done with sticker removal.
