The timeline 191 series by Harry Turtledove is good. It is an alternate history series were the Confederacy wins the civil war and fights the U.S. in three wars afterward, including both world wars. Its an 11 book series so it might take several trips to Boston to finish.

Lone Survivor!! Awesome book, I think everyone should read it. Just dont do it around your lady if you dont want her to think you're a big V. I want to pick up American Sniper too. Anyone read it? I think I might have to add that Fearless to my list as well.

Lone Survivor was great and completely agree about the big V. I was reading out loud and had to stop. Marcus Luttrell is a fucking man.

I have read american sniper. I read it before lone survivor and i dont think its as good as lone survivor but its still very good. Chris Kyle seems to be a little public seeing as how he was on fox news and other big interviews. Nothing wrong with that i dont guess but just dont think his service should be that public.

no trying to get the thread way off topic, but chris kyle's a professional. he's not giving up any info he shouldn't be or compromising current operators by telling his story... which i think he's more than earned the right to.

Luttrell has had his fair share of high profile interviews too...

i'm more worried about the information that the white house has been giving up lately than the warriors telling their tales...

I have read that too, but I hear it's quite embellished. It's pretty funny and to hear that a lot was fabricated kinda ruined it for me. I just finished "The Rape of Nanking" by Iris Chang. It is a depressing book to say the least, a true story about how the Japanese overtook the city of Nanking, China and the atrocities, horrible stuff.

I also just finished " Skeletons on the Zahara" by Dean King. Unbelievable story of survival in the Sahara desert stemming from an American ship wreck in the 1800's. Thanks for the suggestions.

The shack, if you're into religion at all. Not necessarily non-fiction. But definitely well written and a very interesting portrayal of the Trinity. *spoiler*

My wife couldn't finish this book because she said it read terribly. She reads a lot and ripped it apart.

Same thing my wife said. Read the first chapter and said the author was about as descriptive as a 6th grader.
