bingo. in fact, i'm surprised they can get away with doing wht they are doing.

i'm completely against whaling, but i am even more against these eco terrorists. The captain has claimed responsibility for sinking at least one if not more japanese ships while they were in harbor. in recent years they tried to sue the coast guard for ramming them. but they did not obey coast guard orders so whos fault is that? these guys are just a bunch of spoiled hippie pussy's that need to be put in their place. it'd be great if one of these japanese ships actually fired on the crew claiming self defense.

I like the show and the cause, but the fail every time they try to stop them pretty much. The captain I swear is gay and is a pedophile, that is prolly why he is offshore all the time so he resists his urge.

Either way, its a lame attempt by amateurs. There are much better ways of disabling vessles at sea. Personally, I am waiting for Japan to hire a company to deploy limpet mines onto sea sheppard vessels and win the "war".

Whaling used to be a vital source of oil for the world, i.e. lamp oil from it's blubber. I don't know how much of the whale is used for food. But now the oil isn't needed for light or industrial lubrication so why kill the whales? I eat meat, cows and pigs and everything else I can get my hands on, I even cut them up 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week( i'm a meat cutter at a grocery store). So I feel somewhat torn here, what if someone came to me and messed with my income due to the fact that some group in India didn't like me butchering cows? I would be pissed, right? But there will come a time when we as a species decide what is acceptable/sustainable for food and what is off limits due to public outcry. In the mean time I think everyone that eats meat should at least one time be the one to end the live of another creature to sustain your own life, either kill a deer, butcher a cow, catch and gut a fish, shoot a hog, or ring the neck of a chicken drop it in boiling water and pluck the feathers. It puts a whole different perspective on the process of dinner time. And I think it would make everyone be more respectful of what's on their dinner plate.

^^^Well said sir. I never minded killing and taking apart an animal for food. Have you read The Omnivores Dillema-Michael Pollan?

I think it's a Japanese delicacy, they have been eating whale meat for many years. This is why they are going after them for their meat I believe. The Japanese have said that they do it for research; yeah sure research. This is how they get around the law.

So I guess it has nothing to do with eating the whale meat to survive, they can eat other kinds of meat. But because it's a tradition and a delicacy for those who have money for such a rare meat.
Was this your question? Why they are eating whale meat?

Whaling needs to be very limited, especially when numbers of the species is low. Nobody needs to slaughter that many of anything for "research." At least the Sea Shepperd have brought it to light, although I do not agree with most of their methods.

I love watching this show. I love watching the lack of leadership and experience putting the Sea Shepards into increasingly dangerous situations. Paul Watson is a joke. I'm convinced he's in a sexual relationship with that Rat-looking skinny glasses guy. And finally, the whalers can go fuck themselves for what they are doing. I hate both sides equally.
