Which one did you get? I have the Samsung 55in, 8500 and it is freaking amazing, regular DVD's look like blue rays and Blue rays are awesome. I havent mustered up the courage to buy the $200 3d glasses yet. But trust me if you like watching sports, you will not be dissappointed!

Glad you are enjoying the experience. I, however will not be purchasing a 3d tv for another 5 years or so. I have just got done building my 7.1 surround sound system with 50 in plasma and a blu ray and could probably purchase a set of those for each room in my house and come out less than price of 3d technology ;-(

I read pc magazine's article right as hd-dvd was battling it out with blu ray.. and it recommended to wait. I learned that patience paid off because I ended up not buying something that went out of business.

With 3d technology I figure I should wait and by time I am ready to buy in.. I figure they would have invented 3d without glasses. In my case my family consists of 2 sisters and both of my folks when they come to visit.. so that's another 150x4 just for the glasses. So err... for time being I am going to wait and see and soak up all the feedback like a sponge.

P.S. Is it true that if you tilt your head in those glasses.. 3d effect disappears?

A year's worth of wages and my little brother :p

j/k man...this one is the 55" and goes for $2,999 but everything together was a little over $4,000 (bluray, directv, wiring, 3D glasses, warranty, etc.)

It was my dad's father's day gift to himself (he NEVER buys anything for himself) along with some help from my mom and my brothers

The 3D effect does not disappear unless you watch tv from a 90 degree angle :D

    I'm with ya on this.....

The technology is awesome but way too early (for me personally) to invest in it right now. We have a 5 year old 55" Sony rear projection LCD (1080p) that still looks awesome. Give it another 5 years and we might be ready for something else. By that time, the technology will have grown better (I hope). Or, atleast the plazma's will be CHEAP as shit!! ;)

Enjoy the TV....any new & bigger screen TV is gonna be far superior than the old ones!!! Keep us updated - like yarik said, I'm all ears!!.

What exactly can you watch in 3D? I mean....is there many movies, tv shows, tv stations that support that yet?

Subscribing to this thread...I'm planning my home theater right now for my new house, planning on going with the 58 inch Samsung plasma (no windows in the basement), so I'm real interested to hear what you think of the Sammy!

There are 3 or 4 3D channels on TV right now that give you that "Holy crap that thing is right in front of my face" effect. I always watched the world cup, MLB all star game, and home run derby in 3D. There are going to be some college and pro football games in 3D including the national championship and superbowl (cant wait)

For regular TV, there is a "simulated" 3D option, but it is more looking into the TV than popping out at you

As for movies, there is only 1 out right now, Monsters vs. Aliens. Even though it is a kids movie, it is still awesome in 3D. Avatar come out in 3D this November i think and i cant wait to see it!
