So i am close to having everything bought for my truck, as soon as i get my mr marv box, i will be able to start installation. Heres my question. I plan to buy a dnx 9140 end of December (when i get my bonus check). But i was wondering if i could install a regular 1 dinn head unit to get me by until i get the new head unit? or am i better off waiting until i get my new head unit? i am not sure about the mounting of the dinns for example if you set it up for 1 dinn you have to use it as one dinn, if you set it up as a 2 dinn, etc

Let me know please

Hi Everyone,

I have purchased a few items for my truck and I'm down to the amp(s) and door speakers.

I have a 2006 Access Cab -

What I've purchased so far is...

Box - http://www.supercrewsound.com/commer...d=308&catId=69

Sub - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+GTO1014D.html

Head Unit - http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entert...eiver/KDC-X993

I will most likely be upgrading the speakers for both the front doors and the back as well. So I'll pickup an amp for the sub..and an amp for the 4 new speakers... or is there an amp that could cover all that?

Suggestions/Advice is greatly appreciated :D And I'd like the amp(s) to fit under the seats if possible.. Unless thats bad? i did it on a previous truck with no issues...

Thanks in Advance

Alright so here's my problem.. I Installed a new HU (alpine cda-105) and an amp under the driver's seat (alpine mrp-f250). Had the amp hooked up to my factory speakers because I didn't have my aftermarket speakers till a week later. Well the factory speakers would cut out when I turned the volume up high.. about 20 or so but if I had it at 19 it would be fine. I figured it was just the shitty stock speakers but once I installed the aftermarket speakers they still cut out. The speakers are Polk Audio db6501 components, I rechecked the connections to make sure everything is right.. I tried turning up the gain but still cuts out, also tried turning it down but no bueno.

Have any ideas what it could be?

My dilema is...someone cut holes for tweeters in the "A" pillars...So now i stare at two big holes on each side...anyone have any tweeters sitting around i can use to fill em' in...The pillars are about $60 each and tweeters cost about $120 neither of which i want to spend if i can find some cheap old speakers to just fill the hole (not even hooking em' up)

I have the JBL Premium Sound Package in my '09 Tacoma and Ive been having issues (as everybody else has) with my stock radio. I talked to my dealer and they said after dropping off my truck for the day (for inspection purposes), and after making sure I qualify for the TSB, I will have my headunit in 60-100 days:eek:. I really dont feel like waiting that long and Ive also been eyeing some nice aftermarket radios. HOWEVER, Ive heard that going with an aftermarket radio and keeping the stock speakers may distort sound or bring down sound quality.

My questions are:

1. Is that true? Can anyone attest to the statement's falsity?

2. Point me in the right direction for a decent radio (touchscreen please).

Thanks for the help guys.

I've been searching for a way to increase the input volume of the aux input jack on my Tacoma. Even with my ipod/iphone all the way up, I find myself listening to the radio on max (especially when the windows are down).

I came across this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbniHbwO-CE

Looks easy enough to build, think it would work? From what I can tell, power would have to be supplied to it in a manner different from what he did, along with the inputs/outputs changed a bit as we won't be using standard RCAs. Neither of which would be overly complicated.

Hey guys, quick question for you. I have inifinity 6 1/2 component speakers in every door on my truck. They are the 6020 reference series. Anyway the sound is kind of hollow or I should say they they have that small speaker sound to them. I like being engulfed in sound. Any suggestions? I like the clarity and sound of the components especially for accoustic music but there is definitely a lack low mid range. What do I need to do? Different speakers? I do have a subwoofer built into a arm rest enclosure (10").
