Just a recap, I ordered the kit from hydrahawk/GS Auto Interiors & more on ebay. custom ordered black. Really great seller, I highly recommend. They came in a katzkins box so I'm assuming they are katzkins.

I did the seats on saturday. It took me about 6 hours to do all the seats. I did the door panel inserts on sunday. My hands are killing me between raw knuckles, cuts from razor blades, and bruises but it was definitely worth it.

It was also a task to find a pair of hog ring pliers. I called 3 different sears stores and none of them had them in stock. I ended up finding a pair at tractor supply on friday night.

I recommend using a set of snap ring pliers to remove the hog rings by stretching them apart. I started using a pair of dikes/wire cutters but the hog rings are really thick. The snap ring pliers worked a lot better.

Overall the concept of installing them wasnt too difficult it was just a tedious and time intensive job.

I'm gonna have my mom sew up a custom black cover for the center console when I go visit my folks for thanksgiving.

Here's the pics.

Hey,

Just a couple issues for all the paint/detail guys.

When I look at the paint at the right angle, I notice dead spots. The roof is really bad and the hood is not quite as bad, but still noticeable. I tried the clay bar and waxing a couple times and nothing helped. It looks like it could be minor oxidation.

From what I've read on this site, the paint on the 2nd gen. trucks is not so hot. It does seem pretty soft.

Anyways, is this a polishing issue? That is pretty much the only thing I haven't tried. I'll take pictures after it stops raining. I really doubt it's anything too serious considering the truck is only an '06. Never know.

Thanks and any help will be greatly appreciated!!

I have both a 99 Tacoma and a 99 4Runner and this question actually about the 4Runner, but since the dashes appear to be the similar, I'm posting in this forum to see if I can get some advice/information. The passenger air bag cover on the 4Runner is scratched; the rest of the interior is in great shape. I think the previous owners passenger must have used the dash as a foot rest. The interior color is grey.

Searching around, it looks like the cover is separate from the actual air bag. I found a part on the Toyota parts site for an air bag door. There was no illustration. Does anyone know if this is in fact the passenger air bag cover? It sold for $138. I’ve also searched around the used parts forums and sites and I have not found a used cover.

I would prefer not to spend $138 on this. I called several auto parts stores looking for paint that would match the dash, with no success. Does anyone know if you can buy paint that matches the dash, if so where? The air bag cover appears to be painted, in that the original color scratches off, would there be any problem with repainting the cover?

Thanks,
