I know this has probably been answered but when I come to a stop there is a weird thump noise about 2 seconds after I stop. Kinda sounds like i have a loose 25lb weight sliding from the back of my bed to the cab. It is very noticeable and annoying. Could this have anything to do with the drive shaft. I drive an 06 reg cab. The truck has 54k miles on it. I bought an extended warranty up to 103k miles so I should be able to have what ever it is repaired. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Other than that I love the truck.

Park/Neutral Position Switch & Idle Speed question

Hi - I'm chasing down a rough idle problem with my '97 2.4/AT/105k . The engine runs fine but about 10 seconds after you come to a stop the idle speed drops and the engine shakes noticeably.

If I pop it into Neutral and then back into Drive the idle is smooth for about - you guessed it - 10 seconds.

I've tried the usual tricks - check vacuum hoses (all good), new PCV valve, Seafoam through the brake booster hose/oil change/new plugs, cleaned the throttle body. None of it helped.

What I'm trying to figure out is what the ECU is telling the EFI to do after the truck comes to a stop. If I can do that maybe I can figure out what to do next to fix this problem.

I've pored over the FSM but it's more of a troubleshooting guide and doesn't delve into how the components work together.

Any help on chasing this one down would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So i called the 1800# today and explained my problem about the harsh ride and the lack of payload capacity. The lady on the phone was very nice and understanding and gave me a case # and set up an appointment at the dealership where I bought my truck. I know this is going to be an uphill battle since not only is my truck an '09 but it is also a regular cab. She explained how they will problably want to see exactly what happens under load and I am prepared to take the trip to Home Depot and buy some sand bags to prove it to them.

I know that there are a couple people on this forum that got the TSB on a regular cab 4x4.

Any pointers that should help?

wish me luck.

thanks

It has over 200,000+ miles on it. somtimes when I go hunting I have to drive on dirt roads. I get rattled to pieces. Is there some sort of suspension modification that I can do myself to smooth out the ride? buying another vehicle isn't an option right now. thanks

The Super Turbo sounds and feels great, the sound was actually surprising to me I really like it. I think the truck handles better than before. Now waiting for wheels and tires in the spring ;)

I am having issues starting my Tacoma. The last few days is been harder and harder to start my truck. This issue is when I attempt to start it, I have to push harder and harder on the clutch to make it start. I don't think its the starter and I don't think its the clutch. I think it may have to do with the slave/master. I have to really press in hard on the clutch to make it start. Any Ideas. I have had the vehicle for 3 years and haven't needed to replace anything.
Thank you.
