Can someone tell me if a TRD header is available for the 2.7L 4 cylinder engine? I have a 98 Tacoma and just got a new muffler put on. When the guy at the shop was welding every thing up he noticed that i have a cracked manifold. so I'm in the market for a replacement. from what i've read the TRD headers are the best but i haven't found anything for the 2.7L. If the TRDs aren't available could you all suggest anything else that gives good gains?

But I came accross someone the other day who has one on his preunner and said he actually put it on cuz the truck will run cleaner..?? Instead of having a the intake closer to the bottom... It could be up top so it could take the cleaner air as opposed to all the dust and shit from the bottom..?? Does this make sense or am I completely talking outta my ass haha

I want to change the sound on my 08 2x4 access cab taco a bit. I don't really care about trying to add performance to my truck with a cat back (if it even adds any?)

What are the main advantages of going all out with a nice exhaust system as opposed to just swapping out my stock muffler for a better quality one?

My optimal outcome would be just a nice smooth low sound. nothing overly loud, or ricer sounding.

So I may be coming into some money here soon and I was thinking about upgrading my exhaust system. So far I have been looking at all the big names, TRD, AFE, Injen, AEM, URD and others. And the one I am most impressed with is the URD TCAI with the MAF Cali. I would accompany this with a JBA cat back bolt on exhaust and Doug Thorley headers at some point.

But for now it would be just the URD CAI w/ Maf Cali and JBA exhaust. Is there anyone running this system?

How do you like it?

Would you do anything different?

Is there anything I need to watch out for?

I'm just wanting to know if there is something else better out there?

Should I look into a different direction?

I have installed ram air/CAI on the last 3 of my 4 vehicles and I like the gains. I know the URD is a more detailed install than most others, but I could always use some advice or input from others.

Thanks for the help.

First off , yes, this is "just another filter thread", so leave if you want:p.

After months of reading blah blah this and gyuck gyuck that about Afe and K&N air filters, I did something about it. I'm often the skeptic, and only 1 real way to be knowledgeable about what you say... try it.

I had 3 after market air filters on other rigs, 1 my dad's, only 1 seemed to work. So my last 2 trucks I went PFFT why bother, I'll keep my money.

I figured on a different truck, you can't always apply previous knowledge so i bought an Afe Pro Dry-s from Auto Anything, they did a great job on shipping. Idropped the filter in Friday and drove Sat /sun / today.... simply put there is no doubt the throttle responds better, it lugs less when i turn in 2nd gear, and it accelerates better, and I can almost dump the clutch w/o killing the engine. I BOUGHT THE THING to prove nothing would be different, but would have a lifetime filter!!

I don't know the mpg shift, Im going home at Thanksgiving, but with the weather the actual mpg wont be too accurate. If you have the 4 cylinder though it looks like $35 well spent , and I apologize for being a cynic and accusing some of you of blah blah.:o

I picked up a used Banks Monster and installed it yesterday.
Went in smooth and is a well designed unit.
Good sound and so far I like it. A bit loud at certin RPMs but I think I can live with it.

Power? I doubt it makes any more power as most modern vehicles seem to have a pretty good system now a days.
So all said and done it is a good overall catback and went in pretty easy.

Any one else have one?

1.) is anybody running a JBA header/exhaust kit? they claim to have good horsepower and mpg increases and they have a kit for us. i am looking into a new exhaust and was thinking about a flowmaster 40 kit, but headers would be sick. maybe we should look into a groupbuy?:D

2.) i was on the trd website and it says that the CAI is for race only and not emissions legal. wtf? then why do so many people have it? do you guys just swap in the stock one when going to get inspected? are there any better alternatives that won't void the warranty and whatnot?

3.) not a question, but for all who are reading this post i am looking for performance and sound from all three products. can anybody help me out?:o

The end goal is to have the full Stage III URD SC set up. I'm going to take things slowly so this can be a valuable learning experience :)

Meh, you guys are right. I should take things slow and not get in over my head.. Decided to upgrade my exhaust through URD for the first step. There will be a LOT of upgrades in the long run, but I have decided to keep the same engine. If I have something wrong, help me out guys! :) .. I would like to start ordering the parts for the upgrade by this saturday. I know the entire process will take months if I am to learn from this hah.

Step 1. http://www.urdusa.com/product_info.php?products_id=1260518539{33}Array{6 0}284
With gaskets and O2 Sim

Step 2. http://www.urdusa.com/product_info.p..._id=1260518483
With gaskets

Step 3. http://www.urdusa.com/product_info.php?products_id=1260518482{55}247
Magnaflow selection (dont see the benefit of quieter muffler...)

Step 4... before messing with anything else, it wouldnt hurt to contact import performance transmission to check out their auto transmission valve body upgrade right? I'll have to upgrade my transmission to handle he power anyways once I get the SC as well.
