How does that garage weather stripping work? I was going to use that car door edge protector crap but was worried that it was a little hard and might rub through. The weather stripping pretty soft?

it's pretty soft. I had to "double up" on the plexiglass. so the wather stripping is wedged under the front lip (where it touches the roof) and tucked between the two strips of plexi glass

Ha! well phonetically she's joan-ey and not jonny. named after the red head with the huge rack on mad men because guys always throw money at her just as i anticipate throwing large sums of money into this FJ and the FJ has a huge rack.

Read through all 160 pages of posts... slow day at work; got paid to look at sweet ass rigs and learn about my FJ today :D

I'm just in the beginning stages of modding my FJ and would like some advice. I do not see trails like anything you guys do. You guys are nuts and I think it's awesome but I'd be afraid of destroying my DD. I go camping 3-4 times a year and drive around the fire trails in around Lake Edison and Shaver at times. I needed the 4X4 for snowboarding.

Now the actual question: I want to do a lift, 2-3 inches. I won't be offroading it hard at all but am the type of person that likes to know they could if the opportunity presented itself. I don't think i want to go the spacer route. Leaning toward OME or 5100's. What do you guys think for someone who will be using it as a DD, mpg is a concern to a point and is basically lifting it for looks BUT would like it to be functional if needed. Sorry for the long windedness

Hmm idk would rather trade for a set of 33's on 18's I have fierce attitudes on my fj less than 500 miles on em just trying to see of there's any interest

Haven't been wheeling in my fj yet but got the OME set up with med springs for my fab four bumper and I'm extremely satisfied with it, rides great, I had a toytec ultimate lift on my Tacoma I kno there not the same vehicle but I really see no difference in the ride between te two

^^^ repping SC well. I loved my visit to that state. I always hear great things about the OME setup. My only concern came up when jonny installed them on a FJ and stated the lift was over 3'' but would settle when armor was installed. I don't plan on installing any armor (so everyone says at the beginning...). I don't think a 3'' lift plus new shoes plus the rack would fit into my garage! I've measured my clearance and think i can squeeze in with the 3'' lift.

That's true my fj did seem higher than 3 inch before my bumper was installed

Jonny is cray cray. It all depends on what set up you go with. If you get the 884's, it won't get you over 3", the 885's however will. The OME is a great set up. I have no complaints, other than Jonny melesting my suspension before it went on.
